Summary. The extension reads a page only when you click it. It keeps nothing. It sends nothing until you press a button, and then it opens RoutePlanner.ai with your stops in the address.
| When | What it reads |
|---|---|
| You select text, right-click and choose "Plan a route with RoutePlanner" | The text you selected. |
| You click the toolbar icon | Text you have selected on the current tab. If the tab is a Google Maps directions page, the stops in its web address. |
| You click "Find places on this page" | The numbered headings on the current tab (for example "1. Colosseum"). |
| You click "Plan a trip like this page" | The title of the current page. |
The extension never reads a page in the background, never reads other tabs, and never reads form fields, passwords, cookies or your browsing history. Reading the current tab works through Chrome's "activeTab" permission, which only applies after you click the extension.
Nothing. The extension has no storage permission, no account, no analytics and no tracking code. It sets no cookies.
When you press "Build my route", "Split my Google Maps route into days" or "Plan a trip like this page", or choose the right-click action, the extension opens a new tab at www.routeplanner.ai. Your stops, options (such as transport and daily driving limit) or the page title are put in the web address as a question for the route assistant. The address also carries utm_source=chrome-extension, so we can count visits that came from the extension.
From that point, RoutePlanner.ai handles your data and our main Privacy Policy applies, including how the route assistant processes your questions and what is kept. We do not sell or share extension data with anyone else.
The extension contains no affiliate links and does not change or replace links on any website. Hotel and tour links that appear in your route results on RoutePlanner.ai may be affiliate links, and we may earn a commission if you book. They are marked as sponsored. See our affiliate disclosure.
Because the extension keeps no data, there is nothing stored in it to access or delete. For anything held by RoutePlanner.ai, see the main Privacy Policy. Questions: [email protected].
If we change what the extension reads or sends, we will update this page and the date above before the new version is released.
